Another big week in February as the PS3 gets another game which, much like each earthquake that hits California and threatens to send it drifting into the sea Superman style, is going to be “the big one” that makes the console into a mainstream hit. We also get a title based on 50 Cent and the GGGGG-Unit!
Killzone 2 (PS3) is the sequel to what was believed to be the PS2’s “halo killer.” That never actually happened as the majority of gamers either avoided or disliked the title. That being said, Killzone 2 is still extremely hyped and is seen as another savior for the PS3. The demo, which is still not widely available for those in the US without the good sense to create a European account, looked great but did absolutely nothing to differentiate itself from other first person shooters. It will be interesting to see if the game lasts longer than its single player mode or if gamers make this game the PS3’s Halo in the department that truly matters: online multiplayer.
50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (Xbox 360, PS3) comes to consoles this Tuesday and brings with it a mixed bag of dumb fun and rap references. It seems, if reviews are to be believed, that fans of 50 Cent, the G-Unit, their songs and dumb fun will have a good time with the title. If you are looking for a great third person shooter that will innovate and elevate the genre, you are barking up the wrong tree here.
