This week we get, besides Cold Storage, an FPS port to the 360, another attempt at an RTS on consoles and an obligatory licensed title.
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution (Xbox 360, PS3, DS) Pick of the Week
Civilization is one of the best and most widely played PC RTS titles around. The leap to console comes with a big pro and big con. The controls work very well for a game naturally fit to a mouse and keyboard. The price for good controls? Many of the deeper controls that Civ players have become accustom to are not found in this game. If you are an RTS fan, this one if for you.
Unreal Tournament III (Xbox 360)
UT3 is a game that is too fast for it’s own good, on it’s second go round as a console port, coming to the system which features Halo 3 and the larger Call of Duty 4 player base. All of that, and the fact that the one interesting feature from the PS3 version (user created mods) has been removed, makes this an obvious pass.
Beijing Olympics 2008 (Xbox 360, PS3)
If only someone could make a console version of an Olympics game that wasn’t absolute trash. At least we have some excellent handheld games while gaming companies continue to work on that dream.
What are you picking up this week?
